My Review:

Under His Skin was such an interesting story that had me reading all night long. The author brought something new to your typical paranormal story that made it unique, and the cover just made it that much more appealing to read.

From the very beginning we meet Annabelle Sparks, a very successful bakery owner whose success after winning a reality TV show called Cupcake Wars skyrocketed quickly. But with all that success, you would think that she’ll have a line of guys waiting to meet her outside her bakery, right? Well, that doesn’t really happen. Needless to say she is only interested in one guy, her best friend, Kaden Chance. After spending a year desperately trying to get him to notice her, Annabelle is at the point where she thinks it will be better to move on from her long-time crush. Yet when she starts to asks questions about his family or where he is from, things start to happen that puts her and her bakery in danger.

Kaden Chance is not from Earth. He is in fact an alien who has been living inside a human body along with his two other brothers while staying in a small town as part of a semi government experiment. Although they are there to help out the government in exchange of getting new identities and a home, they still need to provide information that could be useful to their fellow humans. But aside from all of that his relationship with Annabelle has grown and although he wants to turn their friendship into something else, he can’t help to feel that that is never going to happen. When Annabelle suddenly starts to date, he starts to feel jealousy and something that he has never experienced before, a heartbeat. Everything changes after that, he suddenly feels the need to protect her and make her his. Yet that can’t happen when a something threatens to make his life miserable, and he has to do everything in his power to stop it before it’s too late.

Before reading the book I had only read a couple of “alien books” in the past, not many though. But as I started reading Under His Skin, I really enjoyed reading the author’s take on alien life. The characters are full of life and we do get to see both of their perspectives which helped a lot in terms of getting the bigger picture. In terms of the characters, Annabelle is kind and good at what she does. After knowing Kaden for a while now, she has slowly developed feelings for him and when he doesn’t notice her, she thinks that it would be better to move on. That ends up helping her, and not really because she finds out who he really is. Which leads to the whole idea of being an alien, the author doesn’t go in depth of Kaden’s world. I would have liked to have read more about him and his world, instead of just getting very little information of it. Overall, I enjoyed reading the book, I thought the romance was great and the story as a whole was unique, definitely worth reading. : )
