Crown Prince Nicholas Lytton was never supposed to be ruler of Callanos. He was the “spare to the heir,” pursuing a decadent life of the rich and royal—extreme sports, physical pleasures, and glorious irresponsibility. Until his brother died. Now Nick is to be coronated king, and no one believes he's ready.

The best way to secure his crown is to do the unthinkable...find a queen.
While Isabel Reynolds works in the palace gardens, she has no desire to draw the attention of the way-too-flirty, would-be king. For she's not the woman everyone thinks she is. Even if she wanted—or was tempted by— the promise of love, it would only end in disaster. Because while Isabel may be able to catch a king, her secrets would only destroy him...

My Review:

So far I've read four of the seven books in the Men of the Zodiac series and do not disappoint. I was impressed with The Prince's Runaway Lover, it was fresh and creative.

When Crown Prince Nicholas Lytton receives the news that his brother has passed away, it is up to him now to take the throne as future king of Callanos. He was always known as the “spare to the heair,” and he loved it. His life was all about extreme sports, physical pleasures, and women. Now that has changed for him, as he has find himself surrounded by people that only see him as a playboy prince and not as the rightful king. Yet with having his schedule full of royal duties, he notices the new assistant that has been helping with the palace gardens. At first they met while taking a run, and the more they crossed paths, the more he wanted to know about her. It was then that he suddenly found a new interest in Isabel Reynolds, and he bow to find a way win her over.

Isabel Reynolds has had a rough past, she ha been working at the palace gardens for a short time now and she has grown to love the new city that she is in. Her goal has always been to blend in and not attract too much attention to herself and her past, but her morning runs with the prince have her feeling giddy and confused. She knows that any type of relationship that she has with the future king has to be strictly business, but the minute he starts going to her little cottage, the more attracted to him she is starting to get. Soon she is starts to wonder if settling in Callanos is a good idea or one that is going to lead to disaster especially if the prince doesn't give up his advances towards her.

From the very beginning it is evident that Isabel and Nick are attracted towards each other. They have an instant chemistry that grows throughout the story and soon they can't seem to keep their hands off each other. I really liked both of the characters, from the start we get the sense that Isabel has been hiding something big and she can't stop thinking about the consequences that it might bring to her the minute Nick finds out. As the two start to get to know each other, the secrets that Isabel is hiding come in between their relationship as well as Nick's pressures that come with becoming king. Overall the story is about overcoming the past and learning how to let go in order to move on. The characters had to face struggles to be together in the end, and that is what made the story that much more interesting and enjoyable to read. I highly recommend this story as well as the rest of the books in the series. ;)
